With a high performance drive culture, the healthcare team cultivates an energy that brings forth teamwork to solve problems and improve patient outcomes. The culture is one in which staff is engaged, aligned, and committed, and strong clinical outcomes are produced. Some characteristics are servant leadership, shared visions, seamless communication, planning, high participation, and trust. Servant leadership the main goal of the leader is to serve the main goal of the leader is to serve. They maintain focus on goal achievement while putting the team’s needs before their own. Shared Vision is all the team members have a common vision and focused on common objectives. High participation the team work to make certain that everyone is involved. Engagement drives participation. In the trusting environment integrity, honesty and transparency are part of the organization’s expected behavioral norms.
Intrinsic motivation involves performing a task because it’s personally rewarding to you. Extrinsic motivation involves completing a task or exhibiting a behavior because of outside causes such as avoiding punishment or receiving a reward. It is important as a leader to understand what motivates your team so you can create a high performance culture. If its intrinsic motivation providing and receiving positive feedback is one of the best ways to increase motivation. For extrinsic motivation it is important to offer rewards to keep your team engaged. Without understanding what motivates and drives each player in your team you will not create the driving force that sets you apart from everyone else.
