BFA Supplemental Written Responses (200max)Who and/or what are your artistic influences, and why?Parmigianino （self portraits in convert mirror) statement about the nature of art and what it can reveal. It shows us the self-examination and exploration processes that the artist must go through in order to channel their creativity. Current or historical events – reflects on how I interpret or react to the event/news, and is an expression of how I feel about it            examples:Oculus Rift – watercolor painting that depicts a gap/separation of virtual reality vs. the real worldBlack death – sculpture out of clay of dark, messy chaosPollution – satirical poster ad for a restaurant that replaces food with smaller fragments of garbageWhat do you see as the role of the artist? (consider DIKW model)  (200max)There is a countless number of ideas out there; and for each idea, there are many viewpoints depending on who is experiencing the idea, which may also change over timeArtists help encapsulate one perception of an idea, contained into a defined piece of work, which helps people see at least one different interpretation of an ideaArtists can influence how people view an idea, but more importantly, provide the tools for people to make their own informed decisions about how to interpret the ideaWhat are your goals for study in the BFA in Visual Art, and for UBC in general?  (200max)(would be good to reference a couple courses taught in this program) – do some research on the courses, pick a couple that stand out to you, then look deeper into what the courses are about / may be even name drop the instructor; mention how it might tie into a passion for you, area of interest, etc.Reiterate – goals are to equip me with the critical thinking tools necessary to bring “inclusivity and brands that empower the underrepresented groups in the world to be more confident and less hidden while encouraging the upper class to close the gap.”BFA Supplemental Written Responses (200max)Who and/or what are your artistic influences, and why?Who is my artistic influences:Parmigianino （self portraits in convert mirror) statement about the nature of art and what it can reveal.
